Acupuncture

Acupuncture is fast becoming recognised as a safe and reliable method of treatment for many conditions - millions of people world-wide have benefited from this very effective therapy.

Recent Western research is confirming the reason for the 3,000 year old survival of this tried and tested therapy: it works for many conditions.

These include: asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, migraine and headaches, indigestion, constipation, IBS, osteo-and rheumatoid arthritis, back/neck and shoulder/knee pain, strains and sprains and other soft tissue injuries, PMT, irregular or painful periods, menopause, fluid retention, skin disorders and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, insomnia and following cardiovascular accidents such as a stroke. In addition, acupuncture is used for addictions to smoking, alcohol, drugs and other substances.

Acupuncture also sees encouraging results for fertility treatments and support with IVF treatments. It is an excellent treatment for many pregnancy ailments, and a treatment of choice to prepare oneself for a more effective labour. It is also very effective for anxiety and depression, stress and tiredness.

Acupuncture is especially good for pain relief, from musculoskeletal pain, plantar fasciitis to Trigeminal neuralgia and Shingles.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture has been shown to raise levels of specific hormones, prostaglandins, white blood cells, gamma-globulins and anti-bodies generally. It releases endorphins, our natural pain killers and "Feel Good" chemicals. Other theories involve the central nervous system and the cardio-vascular system.

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes the body and mind are to be kept in a fine balance of Yin and Yang to resist disease, and one of the ways is to keep Qi (Chi) flowing smoothly throughout the body.

This Qi flows through energy channels called meridians, on which acupuncture points are located. Injury and disease interrupt this smooth flow of Qi , which is restored through the use of acupuncture, thereby promoting good health.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is a safe and natural therapy. Muscular tension can be increased by both stress and emotional tension and over time this can lead to muscular pain with harmful effects on posture and general lifestyle.

Massage Therapy increases general circulation affecting the muscular, cardiovascular nervous and lymphatic systems. Massage can improve muscle health and performance generally as well as helping medical conditions such as migraine.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils to promote relaxation and relief from muscular tension and to strengthen the body's natural defences.

It creates a feeling of wellbeing and is especially beneficial for stress related ailments.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic therapy. It does not diagnose illness but can be effective in the relief of many acute and chronic conditions such as anxiety, back pain, digestive disorders, migraine and hormonal imbalance.

It is an extremely effective therapy for stress related conditions. Reflexology is a gentle therapeutic massage which works on specific areas of the foot to facilitate healing throughout the body.
